Prof. Gaetano Guerra is Professor of Macromolecular
Chemistry, at the University of Salerno. All the scientific activity of
Prof. Guerra has been devoted to theoretical and experimental studies relative
to polymeric materials. This activity is documented by nearly 140 scientific
papers on international journals as well as by several patents and chapters
of books.
In particular, he has been active in the area of Ziegler-Natta olefin
polymerization catalysts since 1976 and in the area of metallocene catalysts
since 1986. A large part of his research activity has been devoted to the
study of structure-property relationships for semicrystalline polymers
of industrial relevance, mainly isotactic polypropylene, fluorinated homopolymer
and copolymers, polyethyleneterephtalate and syndiotactic polystyrene.
The discovery and the study of possible applications in molecular separations
of a specific crystalline phase of the latter polymer has been his main
activity, in recent years. Prof. Gaetano Guerra is presently President
of the Italian Association of Science and Technology of Macromolecules
(AIM).
