Notes
Roberto Pantani was born in Nocera Inferiore (Salerno) in 1971. In 1989 he took with full marks a diploma of scientific high school (Liceo Scientifico). From 1989 to 1995 he was a student at University of Salerno, Department of Chemical Engineering. In this period he took part to the Erasmus project for 6 months at University Of Glamorgan, Pontypridd - Wales, and gained an internship of 3 months at European Technical Centre of Procter & Gamble in Brussels. In 1995 he graduated "cum laude" defending a thesis on shrinkage in injection moulded PolyStyrene. From 1997 to 1999 he was a PhD student in "Technology of New Materials" at University of Palermo. In this period he spent some research periods abroad (1998: City College of City University of New York, 1998: Technical University of Eindhoven, 1999: University of Minho Pt). He gained the PhD degree in February 2000, defending a thesis entitled "Analysis of Shrinkage Development in Injection Moulded Samples". From 1999 to 2001 he gained a research fellowship at University of Salerno, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, in "Processing and Characterisation of Polymeric Materials". From September 2001 to September 2007 he has been an assistant professor of Transport Phenomena at University of Salerno, Dept. of Chemical Engineering; from October 2007 to September 2017 he has been is Associate Professor at the same Department.
Since October 2017 he is Full Professor at the Dept. of Industrial Engineering at the University of Salerno.
He is a lecturer of Transport Phenomena and of Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, and is currently the Chairman of the Degree Program Board.

Fundings and Projects:
In 2002, in the framework of a program for young researchers, he gained a funding from University of Salerno on the subject "Effect of Pressure on the Viscosity of Thermoplastics". In 2005, he gained a funding from Regione Campania on the subject "Morphology evolution in injection moulding". Since 2006, his activity on "Analysis of transport phenomena in polymer processing" was regularly funded by the University of Salerno in the framework of FARB (fundings for basic research). In 2012 he started to coordinate a 3 years long project on "Production technologies for polymer composites" funded by the Ministry of Research in the framework of PON Projects. In 2013 he started to coordinate a 3 years long project on "Developing polymeric smart foams with behavior controlled by the magnetic field" funded by the Ministry of Research in the framework of PRIN Projects. In the course of his activity, he took part in 4 PRIN projects, 1 CNR "finalizzato" project, 4 PON projects.

Networking:
He takes or took part to several research networks: EC COST Action P12 "Structuring of Polymers"; EC Coordinated Action "PIAM - Polymer Injection Advanced Molding"; Italian Interuniversiy Consortium on Materials Science and Technology INSTM. He is council member of the GRICU (Italian Group of Chemical Engineering of University).

Research activities and Achievements:
His main research interests focus on analysis and simulation of injection moulding of thermoplastics, structure development in polymer processing, volume accuracy and stability in polymer processing, processing and degradation of biodegradable polymers. He collaborates with companies and research centres and is author of two patents, of more than 70 publications on international peer reviewed scientific journals, of some book chapters and of about 100 publications on proceedings of international conferences.

Since 2012 he is member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Applied Polymer Science.
Since 2016 he is member of the Editorial Board of SpringerPlus Journal.
Since 2016 he is member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Polymer Engineering
